Description
The Norsman Shield Mandala Gourd Shard Necklace Set features a large, weightless gourd shard circle that measures just over 4 inches in diameter. I carefully burned patterns into the wood, creating lines around the small bead at the center. To shape the outer edge of the circle, I cut small triangles. At the bottom, I added tiny copper flower beads, a wooden bead, and a shiny copper glass bead.
The copper-toned chain hangs about 11 inches from the neck, beautifully showcasing the shard. I incorporated more beads in the same colors to the chain and the matching earrings in this set. The geometric pattern of this mandala design is inspired by the simple yet strong styles I observed on a Viking shield at the Seattle Museum. The neutral colors of this piece make it versatile enough to pair with any outfit, and I hope it inspires a sense of boldness and determination reminiscent of a Viking warrior.
