My Color Splash Gourd Shard Necklace Set has a cut-out mandala. I went wild with the painting part and needed to decide how to add a back to the gourd shard to prevent it from breaking. I began covering it with copper gold leaf foil and secured it with black felt—my gourd shard measures about 3 inches by 3 inches.

I dug deep into my bead boxes and found weightless plastic and wooden beads that played well with the colors on the shard. The gold-toned chain and beads finish out the chain and matching earrings. The gourd necklace hangs about 12 inches from the neck and has no weight when you wear it. On a dark blouse or sweater, this piece is stunning!
