I am excited to introduce my Desert Bird in Flight Gourd Shard Necklace Set. When I think of the desert, I envision the turquoise sky, the cacti’s varied greens, and the sunset’s warm copper glow. These colors inspired the design of my bird in flight.

The gourd shard is approximately four inches by three inches and is meticulously shaped like a bird. I have wood-burned intricate geometric shapes and pattern lines onto the bird and then painted an edge in copper to represent the glowing sun.

The necklace features a copper chain that allows the bird to hang about eleven inches from your neck. I explored my bead collection and incorporated those beads with a Southwest pattern and lovely glowing copper tone glass beads, helping the bird sparkle. I included earrings made from a real gourd seed painted metallic green to complete the set.
